Gonna start a little thread about my cab adventures.

Cleaning/doing some minor repairs on a Sega New Astro City. Not a full restoration, but I've been putting off some important tasks for a while and I want to really dig into it.
I didn't take any "before" pics, unfortunately. So heres where we are right now.

Removed monitor surround and gave it a good clean. When I got the cab years ago I already put some work into the CP and PCB areas, but basically everything else is still a huge mess.
Primary goal for today is to finish cleaning the surround, then pull the tube so I can either repair it myself or bring it to a local shop.

Then I'll work on the rest once the tube is out.
Some specific areas people might want to check when cleaning their NAC monitor surrounds:

- Remove black monitor bezel and clean rim of white surround. Mine was *black* with dust
- Remove speakers (from behind) and clean the 'cubbies' they sit in
- Back panel of top section
I would recommend using a flashlight to examine the speakers and check for punctures or tears. I was originally tempted to use compressed air to clean these but reconsidered after thinking about the age of the drivers and sensitivity of diaphrams to changes in pressure.
Cig tar on the inside of the speaker surround is pretty gross. Before and after.
For those who haven't seen it before, here's my mount board setup.

- Ibara PCB
- Gonbes GBS-8220 scaler
- Passive JAMMA AV splitter
- Viletim SCART to JAMMA
- Homemade PS360+ based two-player console adapter board

Hoping to upgrade to GBS-Control soon...
This whole setup is pretty likely to change soon to be honest. I'd like to streamline the console side (remove the Viletim if I can get GBS-Control downscaling working) and potentially upgrade to a better AV splitter solution.
