Katsuki Bakugou Rising
Bnha 285 spoilers

A thread
Prior to this battle, Bakugou probably did want to get back at shiggy for what happened at Kamino but that now obviously wasn't the ONLY reason, he stuck close to Deku the whole time and didn't complain when he was appointed to cover him.
First off, this isn't the first time Bkg has saved anyone, and it's not the first time he throws himself in front of someone to save.

He threw himself in front of Deku to keep AM focused on him to let Dk escape in the final exams and he threw himself in front of Jirou in JT
BUT it's the first time he completely disregards the ‘win’ aspect in the ‘save to win’ and for someone who usually thinks things through, even when it looks like he's not, he claimed he didn't think this time... Sounds pretty familiar to a certain broccoli boy we know
With bnha 284 context, Bkg knows how Deku is, he knows Deku doesn't take himself into account, he knows what OFA is and what it's doing to him. He's seen it first hand.
Along with being genuinely worried, It’s also interconnected with Bkg’s relationship with Deku.

With Bkg’s history of being hard on himself, such as after Deku vs Kacchan 1 and after Kamino.. I wouldn't be surprised if he partially blames himself for how Deku is now
Deku’s habit of not thinking about himself may come from the bullying he endured, as well as being quirkless in a world where having a quirk is essential to being a hero despite dreaming to still be one.
Bkg has probably been thinking about all of it, the way he treated Dk and how it may have contributed to who he is today.

Instead of viewing Dk as someone who wouldn't leave him alone or looking down on him, he's being honest with himself and accepting that HE was in the wrong
Him having a new understanding of himself was shown in this panel where we’re given a new perspective.

The new perspective = the new understanding and view Bakugou has of that moment.
The view of a faceless Deku and Bakugou’s almost villainous shadow looming over him.

Back then, Bakugou probably viewed deku as someone who was in the wrong, but now, he understands that it was he himself who was in the wrong.
This again shows that he's not taking his past actions lightly, and he's not sugar coating them either.

This Reddit post by PocketPika also shows that
https://www.reddit.com/r/BokuNoHeroAcademia/comments/iybesc/bullying_deku_says_バカにする_bakugou_says_苛め/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Along with this new understanding that he may have contributed to who deku is today, he could say that OFA has both been a blessing and curse for Deku.
Despite even comparing it to AFO, even when it comes FROM AFO and thinking it may be cursed. Bakugou recognises that OFA has brought joy and peace to the world, he should know, AM is the very embodiment of that. Which he admired.
ALSO OFA is also the very thing that helped Deku get into UA, it gave Deku a chance to be on equal ground with Bakugou, thus leading to Bakugou acknowledging him.
You could say OFA was the catalyst that aided Bakugou and Deku’s relationship.
Its what helped deku achieve his dream and gave him the confidence he needed to pursue being a hero.

And gave them a chance to spend more time together and push each other
And now that Bakugou feels guilty for his actions, I BET/THINK he's probably grateful that OFA lifted Deku up when he tried to push him down.
So these chilling panels are a mix of both OFA being a blessing and a curse, Deku looks TERRIFYING here, breaking himself, filled with rage, covered in blood and declaring that his power is made for stopping AFO.
(Also the wording is interesting to me too, he’s not saying HE'S going to stop shiggy but OFA is and calling OFA a power instead of a quirk. (quirk is defined as being a part of YOU but in this case I think Deku is thinking of himself as part of OFA)

Idk I could be overthinking)
He’s doing EVERYTHING he can do to win, even if it means breaking himself to do so.... Sounds like a certain explodey boy we know.

And perhaps Bakugou saw the resemblance too??
Flashes of moments must've filled Bkg's mind when he went rushing in, thoughts about what being a hero used to mean to him, his new path to becoming a hero, his guilt and failures, and the moment when his eyes screamed for help and Deku saved him.
BUT despite THIS VERY LONG THREAD, all his worries about OFA and his atonement ARE NOT the reasons why he pushed Deku out of the way.

Its not about any of it. It wasnt a calculated move, it wasnt to pay deku back either. Atleast in his head he wasnt thinking about any of that.
Judging that its called a rising chapter much like momo's rising chapter, It was about Bakugou letting go of both his fear of something that he didnt understand and his weaknesses.
He embodies the thing he couldn't fathom most about Deku, he didnt take himself into account and pushed Dk out the way.

He went from 0 rescue points to putting himself in harm's way to save.

And I think, just maybe, he found what he was missing to become a true hero to rise
Deku and Bakugou embodied the aspects they needed most from each other in this chapter and I'm emo it.
^ yeah lemme just make a typo in the very last tweet, nice one

Also Bakugou best boy

And to all them doubters asking why Bakugou was in the OFA meetings, it wasn't just because he knows the secret. ITS FOR DEVELOPMENT
