#Covid19MB TESTING: A mother’s tale
1. One mother sits in line at the drive thru on Main Street for 4+ hours with 2 small children presenting with cold-like symptoms
2. One mother of 4 waited in line for 2 hours yesterday
3. One mother reaches the Pembina location only #mbpoli

#Covid19MB to be told they are at capacity for today.
**There is NO communication between sites and no LIVE stats on which sites are already lined up and FULL FOR THE DAY.
How is any of this efficient or sustainable? This is unacceptable and ridiculous. #mbpoli

#Covid19MB I drove to 3/4 testing sites today and all were lined up and full with a closing time of 4 pm. As temperatures drop this is NOT sustainable or efficient and begs the question: WHY IS BETTER TESTING NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS STAGE MORE THAN 6 MONTHS IN #mbpoli
#Covid19MB Each site should have signage indicating if they have reached capacity for the day b4 people haul out infants, toddlers, elderly ppl, or NE1 w/ mobility issues only to be turned away. At this stage, it’s disappointing 2C the inefficiencies and lack of thought #mbpoli
#COVID19MB Just as we are able to check wait times for ER/Urgent care centres there is ZERO excuse why this isn’t available for testing at this point. #mbpoli
#Covid19MB And *why* is the provincial government using a private company like Dynacare to expedite testing? Why is this being outsourced? No tender, no competition, no transparency.

We should have nurses and primary health members on the frontline for testing #mbpoli

#COVID19MB Attempt #2: We are at the Pembina Hwy location. We registered to get my child tested. The wait is hours long. People in line to be tested since 7:30 AM, staff member says. Testing site opens at 9 AM. Parking lot full. Plenty of babies & toddlers in arms #mbpoli
#COVID19MB They took my cell phone number to call when we’re up for testing. Told to go back to our cars and keep warm till called. No ballpark of when we might be called.
What if you don’t have a car?
What if you have < children?
What if you have special needs? #mbpoli

#COVID19MB Still waiting at Pembina. No movement. Three hours. They are at capacity for the day. 200 people are waiting inside. We’re going home and will wait to be called, I guess. I don’t expect to get a call today. #mbpoli
#Covid19MB THEY JUST CALLED—we can now get in line. Raced from home to get back in line.
#Covid19MB TEST DONE. Experience was not great even though I had every privilege. The current model is not efficient nor sustainable as the weather plays havoc with symptoms and temperature. Plenty of improvements needed. See up thread. Staff were great, doing their best #mbpoli
#COVID19MB OPTIMIZE THIS PROCESS: Manitoba residents should be able to sign in online to access testing. Upon sign-in and based on availability and user location the site would direct users to nearest test site with a pre-determined time slot where you wait for the test #mbpoli
#COVID19MB this approach is STILL not accessible for everyone (assumes access to smartphone or internet). MB Gov should also consider mobile testing sites that move around the city/regions with higher numbers of cases. #mbpoli
#Covid19MB delighted to hear a mobile testing site has opened up in #Winnipeg https://twitter.com/cbcmanitoba/status/1311309408786358273?s=21
#Covid19MB I want to state again that staff were great. They are doing their best. DO NOT BE A JERK TO FRONTLINE/HEALTHCARE STAFF.
Do. Not.
Do. Not.
