I figured out how to make my webcam toggle between Landscape and Portrait in OBS with a hotkey for my Twitch streams.

I'm showing a very simple way to set it up here, but you can build on the idea presented here to get ✨fancy✨shown later

Thread to follow 🧵
In OBS I have three scenes set up for the demo. Notice in MY GAME SCENE I have one of the CAM sources turned off.

This is what makes the switch work when we set up the hotkey later on.

I've added the CAM scenes as sources so I can get fancy later.

/🧵
In the LANDSCAPE CAM scene, I have my webcam source centered in the middle of the screen. What a charming young man.

I'm leaving a bit of room blank around the webcam in case I want to add webcam borders or alerts directly to the webcam frame.

/🧵
In the LANDSCAPE CAM scene right click on the webcam source and go to Transform > Edit Transform

These are the settings I used. Add this scene as a source in MY GAME SCENE by clicking the big ➕and selecting Scene.

/🧵
The PORTRAIT CAM scene is tricky.

Add your webcam as a source to this scene and then right click it and go to Transform > Edit Transform

Use the Crop settings to center the cam around your face by adjusting the Left and Right numbers.

/🧵
😎Pro Tip: the Crop settings in the previous pic are what worked for me.

These can be different for you based off where you sit facing your cam.

BUT! As long as the numbers in both the Left and Right settings add up to 875 you will always have a 16:9 aspect ratio.

/🧵
Add the PORTRAIT CAM scene as a source to MY GAME SCENE, then right click it and Transform > Rotate 90 CCW.

Go to Settings > Hotkeys and look for MY GAME SCENE to set the hotkeys.

Use any hotkey you want, just make sure the Show/Hide keys are all the same like the picture.

/🧵
After both CAM scenes are added to MY GAME SCENE and one is turned off in the sources (click the eye icon) we're done!

Press the hotkey to toggle back and forth between portrait and landscape mode!

You can resize and move these where ever you want them on the screen.

Using the basic ideas that we covered in this thread, we can build on this to get even fancier with our webcams!

Here's a demo of my webcam setup that I use on Twitch, with some overlays and the Move Transition plugin for OBS to make everything extra ✨fancy✨

/🧵
The end! 🎉

Let me know what you think, or if you figure out a better way to achieve this!

I'll eventually make a blog post version of this thread that'll include how I made my fancy webcam as well on my website.

I'll make sure to add it here once it's done!🧐
