quick rant: with the number of COVID-19 cases rising each day now in ontario and the possibility of another lockdown, one of my (many!) concerns is the implications this has on reproductive rights
1/
1/
the consequences faced by those unable to access contraception in a timely and affordable manner (the greatest barrier being cost), especially for marginalized populations, are astounding
2/
2/
while there are many reasons to use contraception, reproductive choice is a big one. limiting this choice can result in significant medical complications, substantial burden on the healthcare system, extensive socioeconomic implications, & ultimately, loss of basic autonomy
3/
3/
we must prioritize this health issue and implement universal cost coverage now or the ramifications will be felt for years to come
4/
4/
i’ve said it before and i will say it again (and again, and again): access to contraception is a basic human right and not facilitating this right is discriminatory
