The big news about Trump's taxes isn't that he's a tax cheat, a con man, or a complete and total failure as a businessman (although they're all true.) It's that he chose to let 200k Americans die because it was better for his personal bank account to do so.
The article details the huge loans that are coming due, and how he's completely reliant on his hotel and Mar a Lago revenue to remain solvent. What are shutdowns bad for? The tourism industry.
We know from his interview with Bob Woodward that he knew how dangerous COVID is back at the beginning of the year, but he kept it quiet. Why would he do that?
He's obsessed with his reelection chances and he's not a total idiot. Lots of Americans dying on your watch is not great campaign material. And it's not like he didn't have top public health officials warning him about the death toll.
So he made a choice: Save American lives at the cost of his bank account, or let Americans die in the hopes of being able to stave off the metaphorical and literal taxman for a few more years.
That's what Democrats should be saying about this revelation. Trump made a knowing choice to let 200k+ Americans die because it was profitable for him to do so.
