I want to say a few things about the @IndyScotParty. Instead of blaming the new Party and it’s founders for dividing support for independence. Ask yourself instead why they felt the need to evolve to begin with?
It’s not easy to start a new political Party. It takes hard work and dedication. So it’s not exactly something anyone goes into lightly. The Party was created by people who had been previous SNP members.
These folk grew more and more frustrated with the direction the SNP was headed. They tried to change things as active members, but they were not successful. So they left the SNP and decided to start a Party in the vision of how the SNP used to be.
I’ve no doubt they face an uphill climb. I think all the folk involved understand that fact. But they are dedicated to independence for Scotland, because they understand how detrimental staying in this toxic UK has become.
So instead of blaming them for creating another option for pro-Indy folk to vote for, ask why they felt the need to start a new Party in the first place?
To paraphrase a quote about another major Party which quit listening to its members.
I didn’t leave the SNP, the SNP left me.
