If, when the dust finally settles and the pearls are unclutched, the bottom line of this story is "Rich businessman uses complex tax strategy to minimize amount of taxes owed," then we should go ahead and file that away next to "Sun rises in the east" and "Dog chases car."
And that being said, if the president or his children (looking at you, Ivanka) have broken the law or cheated the system on their taxes, then throw the book at them. No one should get to skate because of name or position.
Yes, last night I suggested that this story was more evidence of "swampiness." I'm not changing my mind on that. This presidency has been one big bog. And there seem to be indications that some issues (like Ivanka's consultancy) should be examined. But let's use clear terms here.
