As a fic writer, I can safely say that an unbelievable amount of creators have ridiculously huge egos about the content you create and expect disproportionate amounts of respect, whilst at the same time having very little respect for BTS and their work. The reason people read BTS fic is because of BTS. The reason they like BTS is because of BTS’ talent and personalities, not because of us. Don’t get it twisted. Try writing a story with all original characters and see what happens.

It’s wonderful people create content but it doesn’t mean you are some wonderful gift to the fandom that everyone has to appreciate and admire. It certainly doesn’t mean you have a right to talk badly about BTS. They are the whole reason you have an audience.

This ‘for free!!!’ thing gets overplayed. You are writing for feedback. You are writing for likes and comments and kudos, essentially for praise. If you were genuinely writing for yourself you wouldn’t need to post it online. You get something back from readers.

There’s way too much backpatting amongst fic writers about how wonderful and self-sacrificing they are, as if they’re saving children from starvation rather than indulging in a hobby they choose to do. Get over yourselves.

And it’s almost always combined with talking sht about BTS and ignoring the fact they’re primarily musicians, not just cute guys for your AUs. You expect unending respect for your work and can’t stomach any criticism, yet have zero respect for BTS and THEIR work. The irony.

This is why I keep well away from the ‘community’ and keep any mention of fic on my small private account. To me it’s a very tiny part of being a fan, not my whole personality and reason for being here. You’re obsessed with your own work and clout and it’s laughable.
