BREAKING: I'm sure most of you have already seen the Project Veritas video which has been pushed by Breitbart and other right wing media. In this thread, I'll outline why these accusations of ballot harvesting are frivolous, and why the witnesses can't be trusted.

Project Veritas, Breitbart, Donald Trump and others are accusing Ilhan Omar of "ballot harvesting" in Minnesota. On the surface, this seems like quite a damning allegation, but in reality it is not. Why? I will explain. (THREAD)

Project Veritas & Breitbart accuse individuals associated with Ilhan Omar of "ballot harvesting" (picking up and delivering more than 3 ballots to a polling place). However, at the time the Project Veritas video was made, ballot harvesting WAS ACTUALLY PERMITTED BY LAW. (THREAD)

Several months before the August 11 Primaries in Minnesota, due to COVID, the Secretary of State entered into a consent decree that ordered attorneys and election administrators not to enforce the 3 person ballot harvesting limit. (THREAD)

As you can see, the Project Veritas video was made on July 2, which is after the Sec. of State in Minnesota decided that attorneys and election officials can not enforce “ballot harvesting” limits of 3 per person. At the time this harvesting took place it was permitted by law.

Also in July, Ramsey County District Judge Thomas Gilligan approved a motion for a temporary injunction that would halt enforcement of both the in-person and absentee harvesting limits, essentially guaranteeing, temporarily, that harvesting of more than 3 ballots would be legal.

Now let’s move onto the star witness in the Project Veritas / Breitbart conspiracy theory, Omar Jamal. Omar Jamal has a criminal history (THREAD).

Omar Jamal, the Project Veritas star witness is actually a convict. In 2005, he was convicted of lying to immigration officials and using a fake passport. He was arrested in 2003 for immigration and criminal fraud.

Every other witness in the Project Veritas video refuses to give their names or have their faces shown. Essentially they all could have been paid actors. Let's remember that Project Veritas' James O'Keefe has been accused of and charged with crimes.
