90% of body horror by white cishet men is basically imagining what it’s like to be disabled, trans, or unashamedly kinky. https://twitter.com/chrisms_art/status/1310373781370740749
90% of horror by white authors is basically imagining if the treatment of people of color, in the US and elsewhere, were happening to white people.
Horror, for all its potential subversiveness, has historically been a deeply conservative genre that reinforces the status quo. I love it, and I love certain creators/creations within it, but the hostile conservatism punches me in the gut regularly.
Disabled writers have said this better than I have.

If anyone has articles/essays/resources by trans authors about body horror, please PLEASE send me them. I've read Jack Halberstam's, but more accessible theory and/or personal essays would be very welcome.
