The best moments of the 2020 village cricket season 🏏

A thread —
The season began in lockdown, with this incredible effort between the wickets:
Then these dogs showed off their catching skills - better than most of my team without a doubt.
The creativity continued, with this father and son building an unbelievable bowling machine using a bike, some spare wood and a saw!
As lockdown intensified, so did the family rivalries.

Brutal:
And we witnessed the backyard ball of the century:
This family took it to another level, with an epic all-day contest in the garden:
Whilst those of us without a garden made use of the limited resources available:
Before we were finally allowed to have a net...
This guy had waited patiently for village cricket to return, dreaming of striding to the middle and smashing it around the park:
Safe to say the fielding was a bit rusty too:
Batting and bowling needed a bit of work as well:
But we were soon back into the swing of things… what a run out!
There were absolute scenes when this lad took his first ever wicket:
And chaos when this lad missed the easiest run-out of his life:
One club somehow managed to get their roller stuck in the middle, but carried on anyway...
Whilst another left this poor bloke stranded - with a torn ACL - and carried on playing whilst he waited for an ambulance!
And this bowler was left wondering why he ever bothered taking up the sport at all.
Winter arrived, but that wasn't going to stop us.

The pouring rain, the 12-year-old keeper behind the stumps with the club veteran and a screamer of a catch.

What a sport. 🏏❤️
