I usually respect David Attenborough for his documentaries and work on conservation, but his peddling of the racist "overpopulation" myth needs to be opposed by any serious person who cares about ecology. Humanity pollutes because it's inefficient, not because it's too numerous.
A small minority of people produce disproportionately huge emissions, as well as creating disproportionate amounts of waste and disproportionate environmental destruction in the search for luxury goods.
Will humans always be somehow in conflict with the environment? Probably. Is this inherently tied to population growth? No, because not every human has the same impact on the environment and people where populations grow fastest have a far smaller impact than the developed world.
