Are active volcanoes on Venus the source of the trace elements of phosphine found above the clouds in our sister planet? One new study by Truong & Lunine from Cornell suggests it might well be!!

In this scenario, phosphine is not pointing to the existence of exotic life on Venus, but thriving geologic activity on the planet, since a fairly high rate of basaltic volcanism is required...although apparently not a too high rate...
