why and how to put pronouns in your bio ; a thread
putting your pronouns in your bio is the easiest way to be an ally as a cisgender person. most transgender and nonbinary people will list their pronouns in their bio to avoid being misgendered!
its super easy to do and takes no time at all, just like sharing your name, sharing your pronouns lets people know what you prefer to be called!
while some screen readers can read the pronouns in your location however, some other can't, so its best if you put these in your bio instead !
another thing to note is to not use fonts for your pronouns, because again, screen readers will not be able to read these fonts !
now you must be wondering, is everybody supposed to check the bio before referring to me and isn't that troublesome?
first of all, checking somebody's bio for the pronouns is always appreciated and in order to be a respectable human being you should always make sure not to misgender people.
secondly, you can always use they/them or refer to them as op or oomf !
thirdly, if you hover over a person's dn then you will be able to see their bio, but not their location, so again, it's a good idea to put your pronouns in your bio and not your location!
remember to be respectful of all pronouns and that all pronouns are valid!
