Yet again: the blatant contradiction of pretending to champion free speech, while demanding that anyone who disagrees with you must remain "impartial" ie shut up with our reasoned, evidenced criticism. Faced with populist charlatans, "impartiality" = censorship (self or imposed).
Over last several years, I've had direct experience of how "champions of free speech" try to enforce their demand for "impartiality" against anyone who dares to criticise their own lop-sided (usually hard right) political agenda. Harassment, threats, defamation, blacklisting...
With "champions" like that, who needs enemies? Yet it's sadly effective: I know plenty of people reluctant publicly to criticise, eg Brexit & its many ills, for fear of inevitable vicious backlash. Which makes it even more important for the rest of us to speak up loud and clear.
