Really interesting chat on
@BBCGuernsey with
@J_Rabey96 this morning. As we know, Guernsey's 2021 games won't go ahead

It's after organisers felt it was impossible to commit to the event mid-pandemic - especially with the situation changing around the world. (1)

This morning, on breakfast we heard from the chairman of the Guernsey Island Games - he's called Brian Allen (6th from the left)

He called the decision to have to postpone as an "awful one" for everyone involved (2)

The multi-sport gathering for small islands across the world was due to be held in the Bailiwick between the 3rd and 9th July

Brian Allen says it's been a tough period for all involved - and admitted that he, nor other members see much improving in the next few months

Big decisions ahead.... Orkney are scheduled to host in 2023.

Brian says there could be changes to the hosting schedules for years to come - so where will Guernsey's games slot in - and where will other games go after that?

Simple answer- we don't know yet. Members of the Island Games Association are making decisions as we speak.

BUT, Brian expects a decision to be made on this quite quickly. So expect news shortly - and when I have it, I'll share it with you.
These wonderful photos and memories were taken in Gibraltar last year. A sad, sad announcement but one that's probably for the best.
