feel like tweeting abt one piece
in the recent chapter we got lots of interesting motives for different groups in the foreground while also staying grounded to the chaotic war much like marineford-esque.
comparing this arc to marineford in terms of story telling and structure is just nonsensical since they're drastically different. one was known to be a war specifically by the worlds numerous factions and it's inhabitants way before hand. this is a breakout battle that almost-
every major arc in the series has. (thriller bark, enies lobby, dressrosa, alabasta, wci, etc.)
coming back to the chapter we have drake being questioned by the strawhats and it just oozes classic one piece. genuinely put a smile on my face since its what i love about the series. very cool hearing jinbei speak on defecting from a previous pirate crew since-
he did the same in the previous arc

zoro and drake vs apoo is obviously going to be a short encounter with probably apoo getting defeated since i dont see the reason for him to lose twice? idk we'll see but it definitely isn't their matchups for the remainder of the war.
luffy and sanji interactions are always wholesome when having wci lingering in the back of ur mind.

usopp and nami fucking around was fun too. love seeing their bombastic personalities in the midst of war. reminds me of buggy at marineford but in a less comedic relief sense.
also their matchup against ulti and page 1 is one where i genuinely can't see happen. it just seem too good to be true and since we haven't gotten a really good one piece fight in so long i just reuse to believe nami and usopp are going to face their biggest challenge rn.
i heard this from morj, but i think it's kind of obvious by how the way the parties are split up that this whole raid will fail and a rematch will happen. think abt it

franky vs ONE number (easy)
SULONG neko and inu vs jack (extremely easy)
zoro and drake vs apoo (easy)
big mom not in any direct conflict
kaido vs scabbards this early on?
perospero and marco teaming up but nowhere to be found
law scheming

all of this while not having ONE drawback since yasuie passed away just screams the calm before the storm.
act 3 still hasn't ended yet which is probably the biggest giveaway. not to mention the last 15 chapters boosting the the confidence of the alliance.

anyways, sulong neko and inu looked great and just how i imagined it.
kinemon slicing kaido's blast breathe while the scabbards choosing death is just jaw dropping honestly especially in finishing each other's sentences style. can't believe how far kinemon has come as a character and i feel as though it's only the start of his arc.
genuinely speaking, they're my favorite group of characters not including the sh's. each one has it's own story while being connected by one person whom they idolize. reminds me of the sh's too which i think is intentional.
I've seen some complaints on kinemon "injuring kaido" and how oda isn't respecting his own characters. again, not really much substance to that critique since in the very same spread kinemon slices his attack, they wish to die at the hands of him. literally praising his strength.
and this isn't the first time. all of them reminding us repeatedly over the course of 80 chapters on how they have a death wish at the cost of fulfilling the prophecy is praising kaido. oda always reminds his viewers how good he is at handling a stupidly large cast.
this thread is just rambling honestly i doubt anyone is gonna read this far but yea this is what i been thinking about since friday
