probs weird to say aloud, but i think that not everyone in a3 has to be Gay and that assuming everyone has to be to justify being Like That is actually playing into the heteropatriarchy by assuming that healthy wholesome masculinities cannot come from cis or het men https://twitter.com/2usume/status/1310365988723060736
i mean don’t get me wrong i don’t have beef with shipping as a huge fan of it myself but like i enjoy the ambiguity of gender and sexuality in the game + i like to think that maybe some men out there, fictional or not, are actually super open-minded and just genuinely good people
also kinda bothered with people saying yuki is automatically trans when he made sure to tell everyone repeatedly that he’s a boy who just likes pretty dresses (at least so far in A3eng)?? idk bro
thinking abt it reminds me of how dangerous and damaging even automatically projecting homosexuality onto history or non-mainstream realities can be. hetero-homo is a dangerous binary to think in, especially if we’re trying to say that cishet men should unlearn toxic masc
i mean if we want to promote healthier masc, things usually coded as nonmasc like expressing affection, fashion, and nontrad interests SHOULDN’T be automatically equated with being gay/queer? obv it isn’t bad to be but i feel like the point is to free them from stereotyping,,,
(this isn’t even to say how Western the hetero-homo binary is and how concepts related to homosexuality can be so limited to industrialized societies!!! indigenous realities and general non-Western experiences of gender and sexuality can become subsumed under Western categories)
(also doesn’t even have to be experiences and realities of gender and sexuality; things like affection and interpersonal relations that are the norm and non-gender/sexuality-coded in non-Western societies can be simplistically seen through a hetero-homo lens, which, boo)
ANW THIS IS A WHOLE ASS ESSAY i’ve been meaning to write one as a sort of reminder and discussion starter for my LGBTQIA+ spaces but like. i’m an idiot. i’ll transfer all this text to my blog i guess
