Clickbait titles for articles actually don't make the person read the content. Want proof? Read the tweet thread to find out why!

Wow, you are actually reading this? Well, let this be a lesson. What is the lesson?

But really, actually engaging readers to understand the content requires them to 'read', not just open the page for a click. Sure, a click typically means a person will read, but only if they feel the headline was genuine/accurate. If they feel they've been duped they will LEAVE.
And we are worse off for that. You've built a wall of distrust, and the reader hasn't actually learned anything meaningful. In fact, they may just remember the misleading headline and spout that instead, all without the reader realizing their own participation in misinformation.
Perhaps this was a heavy-handed approach for this topic, but what can I do? I've got heavy hands.
