Victor Davis Hanson makes a great point that one reason Americans are so resentful is the middle class is incredibly regulated, while undocumented immigrants and poor people of protected minorities who live outside the law are granted so much freedom and protection.
A mom can get CPS called on her for letting her well-cared-for-and-polite kids walk alone down the street, while others steal sh*t from Target and become outraged if someone dares call the police.
One man gets a citation and fine for doing repairs without a permit. Meanwhile, his neighbor has garbage piled up, unregistered pit bulls, and too many people to a house, but the cops won’t intervene because they dont want to get said neighbor deported.
I’m as sympathetic to the poor as anyone. And I wouldnt care what they do.

But people like me live in a constant state of anxiety that we’ll get reported by some school official for some tiny infraction, or hounded by some bitch at the dog park.
Why do I have to follow all these rules if nobody else has to?
