(1) @VincentCrypt46 Has inspired me to do an impromptu thread on quitting cigarettes.

I see so many trying, so I figured since Ive done it, I can lend some advice, and give some facts about how it will benefit you, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Lets go!
(2)The first thing you should know is that it is not easy at all. As a matter of fact, dropping cigs was harder for me than dropping opiates.

Nicotine binds to the very same receptors in your brain that release dopamine. Over time, this will impede your brain’s ➡️
(3) ability to release dopemine on its own, and during the quitting process, these little guys are gonna throw an absolute sh*tfit in order to get their fix. Seeing as how youve convinced your brain it doesnt need to create dopamine on its own because of cigs, it is gonna ➡️
(4) do everything it can to convince you to pick that cancer missile back up.

Be aware, nicotine also affects areas in the brain related to; Breathing, Memory, Appetite, and Heart Rate.

Look, withdrawals SUCK. They can, and will include *all* of these symptoms 👇🏻
(5) So, it seems like we’re gonna need something to handle that nightmare, eh?

As @VincentCrypt46 has mentioned - spicy is good. Cinnamon, chilis, hot sauce. I know it sounds weird, but spicy foods release endorphins and thus - dopemine. You are tricking your brain into ➡️
(7) Exercise. Dont miscount or overlook this. Exercise also helps to alleviate the stress associated w/ quitting, and it will help to purge nicotine from your system. In addition - exercising ALSO releases endorphins; https://www.webmd.com/depression/guide/exercise-depression
(8) Meditate. This is another way to release endorphins and stress. Meditation is eons old and has proven medical benefits, and on a personal note - I can tell you from experience that meditation was arguably the biggest key to controlling my mind and cravings.
(9) POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT!! I cannot state this enough! Constantly talk yourself up and reassure yourself. I dont give a damn if you look crazy - do it, it matters.

If you say “I dont think I can do this”, then guess what? Youve just defeated yourself.
(10) When you start, just do it. Dont procrastinate, dont wait for a perfect time. Just do it. Every cigarette you toke only strengthens your addiction.

Im not here to sugarcoat. It will be *hard*. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done. ➡️
(11) but also one of the most rewarding. The first 13-17 days are the hardest. This is how long it takes for your brain to begin cycling normally again - producing its natural level of dopamine, letting go of its need for cigs, and easing up on the worst of the withdrawals.
(12) Ive done a good job of highlighting how much it sucks, and how hard it is. So lets look at the benefits now, and how you will prosper in all areas from this decision.

First off, and most glaring - your health. Your breathing will begin to improve within 12 hours. ➡️
(13) and you may notice congestion, or a lot of mucus coming up after the first few days. Including some exceptionally nasty brown and black sh*t. **THIS IS NORMAL**. This is your lungs expelling tar, and all the nasty sh*t youve crammed in them dozens of times a day for years.
(14) This part isnt fun, but the ability to take a FULL deep breath at the end of it is fooking INCREDIBLE. The ability to jog without being winded, or go up a flight of stairs, etc. Doing all of that without burning lungs is amazing. Full stop. It is worth the icky mucus phase.
(15) Just for posterity sake, this is why quitting cigarettes is exceptionally beneficial. (Notice, there, that the smoker’s heart is also enlarged).
(16) But what about vaping? I vaped heavy to get off cigs, and still vape a very low percentage juice. I can tell you right now - my lungs, wind, and stamina are no worse for wear. All my basic health markers are normal.

Blood Pressure
Blood Sugar
Heart Rate

All. Normal.
(17) Does this mean vaping is 100% good for you - No. anytime to take something into your lungs, you will do harm.

So why quit cigs, but maintain vaping? Here is why .. ➡️
(18) Because e-juice doesnt contain all this garbage, and I dunno about you, but Id rather take a chance with VG/PG than literal rocket fuel 🤷🏻‍♂️
(19) Feels good to know youre no longer ingesting that sh*t, doesnt it?? 😁

Moving on;

• In as little as 20 minutes after the last cigarette is smoked, the heart rate drops and returns to normal. Blood pressure begins to drop, and circulation may start to improve.
(20)

• Cigarettes contain a lot of known toxins including carbon monoxide. This gas can be harmful or fatal in high doses and prevents oxygen from entering the lungs and blood. When inhaled in large doses in a short time, suffocation can occur from lack of oxygen. ➡️
(21)

• After just 12 hours without a cigarette, the body cleanses itself of the excess carbon monoxide from the cigarettes. The carbon monoxide level returns to normal, increasing the body’s oxygen levels.
(22)

• Just 1 day after quitting smoking, the risk of heart attack begins to decrease. Smoking raises the risk of developing coronary heart disease by lowering good cholesterol, which makes heart-healthy exercise harder to do.
(23)

• In as little as 1 month, a person’s lung function begins to improve. As the lungs heal, former smokers may notice less coughing and shortness of breath. Athletic endurance increases and former smokers may notice a renewed ability for cardiovascular activities.
(24)

• 9 months after quitting, the lungs have significantly healed themselves. The delicate, hair-like structures inside the lungs known as cilia have recovered from the toll cigarette smoke took on them. These help push mucus out of the lungs and help fight infections.
(25)

• One year after quitting smoking, a person’s risk for coronary heart disease decreases by half. This risk will continue to drop past the 1-year mark.

• In addition - your immune system and lungs are more able to fight infection after 1 year sans cigs.
(26)

• After 5 years no smoking, the body has healed itself enough for the arteries and blood vessels to begin to widen again. This widening means the blood is less likely to clot, lowering the risk of stroke. The risk of stroke will continue to reduce over the next 10 years.
(27)

• After 10 years, a person’s chances of developing lung cancer and dying from it are roughly cut in half compared with someone who continues to smoke. The likelihood of developing mouth, throat, or pancreatic cancer has significantly reduced.
(28)

• After 20 years, the risk of death from smoking-related causes, including both lung disease and cancer, drops to the level of a person who has never smoked in their life. Also, the risk of developing pancreatic cancer has reduced to that of someone who has never smoked.
(29) So, understand - your body begins healing itself IMMEDIATELY after that last cigarette, and the longer you can make it, the easier it gets.

Not only will this help you physically, but as such - your emotions and mood will elevate. Your energy will elevate.
(30) Youll sleep better. Your dreams will return, and you wont reek anymore.

By the way - I promise you, no amount of Axe, or Febreze hides the fact that you truck through 20 cigs a day. Nothing hides it. Within a week of quitting, youll know what I mean.
(31) Nothing escapes your smell after you quit. Your taste buds get better. Your teeth get whiter, your skin improves, acne or breakouts will fade, and youll heal from sickness or injury faster as well. Your libido improves, and your appetite improves.
(32) There is literally no reason not to quit. And as your physicality and emotions improve, so will your connection to Source and God. Youll notice your spirit begins to open up as you detoxify your brain of the chemicals that keep your aura hidden.
(33) You will be tested. You will lash out, you will be mean, and it will suck right up until it doesnt. But it will ABSOLUTELY be worth it. I do not regret it. I smoked 1.5 packs a day. After dinner, after sex, in a car, breaks at work ... and I can say - it is SO liberating ➡️
(34) not to need to find a time or place to go smoke. Its nice not to reek of smoke and tar, its nice not to get winded when working out, its nice saving hundreds of dollars every month, and dammit - IT IS NICE CLAIMING YOUR LIFE BACK.
(35) Mind over matter really is a thing. And if you stick to it, and stay strong, you can quit smoking no matter how hard it is.

It is a tough task, but after a couple days, and after figuring out your coping methods, you hit autopilot and just kinda plough ahead.
(36) I am 2y, 30d smoke free. And these are my improvements so far. Use this as motivation, because I am here to testify that this is the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. It is self love, and self love of this kind is always shined upon by the Universe.
(37) Last tip - STAY HYDRATED.

Almost over-hydrated.

It will help the electrons in your brain fire more freely to dispose of the nicotine, and it will help stave off headaches or cramps.

Best wishes and luck to all those trying. You have my utmost respect. Now go crush it!
