Thinking about tokoyami hawks endeavor again
After the fight, toko carries hawks around but doesnât know who to turn to before medics arrive. He doesnât trust any pro to look after him, not after what happened. Then his eyes met Enjiâs and Enji rushes to their side despite bleeding in ten different places
Enjiâs fury flares up for a moment, thinking thereâs no way Hawks could get this badly hurt unless everyone else failed him. Then he sees the clear absence of wings and the tears in Tokoâs eyes, and he pulls them into his arms.
Toko has never met Endeavor in person before. Heâs hot-headed, loud, barely shows restraint in his televised battles. Heâs everything Toko isnât. But he sees the light shatter in Enjiâs eyes, and the dam holding his grief back just crumbles. Toko sobs into his heavy arms freely.
The next time they meet theyâre outside Hawksâ ward, Enji in his hospital gown and Toko with some flowers. They sit there awkwardly, listening to Hawksâ shallow breathing, until Enji thanks Toko for saving him. Tells him all about Hawksâ accounts of his training and-
compliments him for coming in just below shouto in the festival. Toko starts talking about how much Hawks looks up to him, and his side of the story about the top twoâs hijinks together. Toko has heard all about the rumors flying around, but he had always kept his distance.
In that ward Toko loses sight of the unapproachable number one hero and instead sees the grumpy, unintentionally funny, fiercely protective Endeavor-san in Hawksâ drunken tales; Enji sees a budding hero that Hawks no doubt secretly cherished,
and beyond the irony of being two birds was Hawksâ ideals bearing fruit, now a shining beacon of his own.
âMy agency would be happy to have you. Itâs what the kid wouldâve wanted.â
Toko hesitates.
âThank you, sir. But Iâll hold on for just a little longer.â He watches his senpai, closed eyes serene beneath the bandages. âThereâs still so much he promised to teach me.â
