I spoke with the director of TGen North in Flagstaff, AZ last Thursday about #COVID19 PCR testing and cycle threshold. @justin_hart @Hold2LLC @AzWarren @AlexBerenson
It was a great conversation. He said 15% of their “positive” PCR tests had a CT of 35 or more. 2/
To TGen’s credit, he said they are going to start labeling tests that come back + with “high amplification,” that is a CT of 35 or more, with an asterisk * and recommendation that the person be retested. 3/
@TGen has been doing the majority of #COVID testing in Coconino County since testing started, until about three weeks ago. 4/
Now the majority of the testing is being done by @ASUBiodesign. They are offering free testing at two sites in Flagstaff, including at @NAU where there are 226 cases of #coronavirus to date, which doesn’t sound like much, but is keeping K-12 schools online 5/
Because the @CDC and @HHSGov have set the CT at 40 he said nobody wants to go out on a limb and challenge that. 6/
When I asked how to best change the situation, he suggested I contact my county health director. He said a county health director could strongly recommend that diagnostic labs giving them data also give them CT information. 7/
So I suggest everyone contact their county health directors, county supervisors, city council members, etc. and insist that CT information be included with “positive” test results. 8/
I did contact the @ASUBiodesign lab. I got back essentially something that was a non-answer. I will follow up with a screenshot of the email in a bit. 9/9
Here is the email I received from the ASU biodesign center.
