Okay way back in 2010 I bought Minecraft but I'm told that's not the same Minecraft as the fancier Minecraft that can use DLC and stuff? And I've also heard that at one point I might've been able to secure a free copy of that newer Minecraft? Though that window might've closed?

Basically can I still upgrade my Minecraft? Can I just keep it to the 10 euros I spent a decade ago?
