I’ve been struggling with what to say about @ryanjespersen’s dismissal from @630CHED and I’m not usually lost for words. Quite frankly it’s incomprehensible. While we wait to learn more I’ll say this:

@ryanjespersen is quite simply a man of integrity. He always spoke his mind and was honest with his guests and his listeners. He asked hard questions when required and wasn’t afraid to take a stance.

And when he did take a stance, it was well reasoned. He didn’t pick teams - he formed his opinion on a case by case basis in response to evidence. For example, he supported elements of private healthcare but was also an ardent defender of safe consumption sites.

Alberta’s media landscape needs more rational voices, not fewer. This is a huge blow to the political discourse in the province and many of us got a lot of our news and current events from the @ryanjespersen show.

I know Ryan will find a voice soon enough and I wish him the best with whatever the future holds. I also hope this costs @630CHED a boatload of money!
