Time to recap the inverter, wheee
I'll probably make an image of the SD card serving as the hard drive while I've got it open.
Here's the main guts!
Floppy is top right, main login board with ram card on the left, and the SD2SCSI PowerBook edition.
See those three chips back there? Those are hex inverters.
I honestly don't have a good understanding of what they do, just that they do need to be installed the right way around in order to work properly.
One of them wasn't when I got it. Whoops.

Can you tell which one?
The underside of the LCD/keyboard assembly.
I can't get over how good a trackball feels on a laptop, honestly, and this is good one. The switches are still plenty clicky as well.
LCD interface guts on the bottom left, and under this silver cover is the inverter.
This little guy is what we're after.
I know I bought replacement caps for it, time to remind myself where I put them.

and by that I mean dig through my parts bin until I randomly find them.
They'll be in bags at least. ...I think.
For any concerned, yes I am properly protected from any fumes from old solder and flux and such despite the relatively inadequate ventilation.
Especially since I'm using The Good Stuff. No lead-free solder here!
Gdmit apple.
Those are the capacitor legs.
It's a little tight, but I'm pretty sure I've got it.

And now I need to do some maintenance on the 808. It's clogging 😕
To be fair, this hasn't been used in at *least* two years I think.
Maybe three.
Found my cleaning rod and cleared the gun out, hopefully no more issues.
Ah.
Would you look at that.

Time to clean up the nasty leakage.
(note: CLEAN IT THOROUGHLY. The electrolyte smells like *extremely* rotten fish when vaporized/burned)
There we go.
Quick trackball roller test.
Vertical seems fine, horizontal... Looks like we get to take it apart to clean!
Or I could do it the smart way 👀
oh yeah said I was gonna do this before I put it back together
Well.. the inverter works.. and I get the Mac bong

But no display.
...oh.

Well, guess that wraps up this thread for now!
