The fact that two under .500 @MLB teams are in the playoffs and have a shot at winning the WS is the reason going to 16-team playoff format should be avoided at all costs. Yet, the majority of owners want this and according to Manfred, will likely be the format going forward.
Granted, this year is the exception, but going forward with a 16-team playoff format could result a 79-83 team making the playoffs in the future.

If playoff rounds are less then seven games, star starting pitchers will be worth their weight in gold. No need to win 95 games with overpriced sluggers. This will ultimately hurt free agency for the majority of players @MLB_PLAYERS.
If MLB playoffs are expanded to 16 teams permanently, and if the playoffs are a crapshoot (they are) how do you, if you are the Dodgers, justify spending $200 million in salaries to win 95+ games? @MLB_PLAYERS
