Looking at @shabooooooom's mini (astounding) performance reminded me of this scene in Sagara Sangamam, an old Telugu movie with Kamal Hassan
A former expert dancer, now reporter, the protagonist goes to report on this lady's performance. You can see the annoyance and anger on Kamal Hassan's face when viewing her performance bc she butchers the meaning of the song and pauses in the middle of
Her performance to sort of bathe if you may in the audience's response to her performance
In this scene, the lady who danced sees the article in the newspaper, and is infuriated that he 'slandered' her performance and 'wrote badly' (not exact quotes hehe). Her and her boyfriend run over to the newspaper office and insult Kamal Hassan 3/n
Saying he has no experience in dancing, how dare he write about her in a negative way. Then Kamal Hassan, looks her in her eyes and begins to correct her.
I can't find the exact picture, but out of many other corrections, he states that in her performance, she represented the singular word, "panchaboothalu" incorrectly. She represented it in her performance as Ghosts, when in reality the meaning of the word was the 5 elements
I just find it so captivating and interesting. The precision of expression and movement is downright necessary when performing classical Indian dance. Everytime I go to an arrangetrum or a rangapervesam Im always so mesmerized by the expressions, makeup and the dresses the girls
Wear. And it isn't JUST that it's just that it's so accurate to the second. The way the eyes whip around at certain points of the performances. Its so beautiful.
