Hey, #WritingCommunity.

We all know sometimes indie authors pay for editors...then end up with crappy editing. Ugh!

Thankfully, this hasn’t happened to me. But what advice would you give an author to help them find an editor who truly knows what they’re doing? 1/3
Here are my thoughts (and why I struggle to come up with a good answer to this):

-We can tell someone to get multiple editing samples. Great advice. But when the edits are conflicting, how do they know which one is best?

-We can tell someone to choose an editor with... 2/3
...some sort of pertinent certification. But many authors are on very limited budgets, which also limits who they can afford to choose.

Literally ANYONE can call themselves an editor.

So how does an author avoid losing money to a well-intentioned but ineffective editor?
