I talked briefly today on the #SpiritualArson podcast about this 2 month old bag of granny smith apples in my fridge.

After re-listening to this episode I had some additional thoughts I wish I would have shared during the episode... https://open.spotify.com/episode/6JemmvnIfr6IcuQz7CHBr8
These apples look great. This is part of why we do GMO's in the first place. We can engineer the "perfect" apple, controlling for things like weight, shape, color and shelf life. They then get a beauty treatment of wax and polish to finish the look...
and after 2 months, they look just as good as when I bought them. But how will they taste? I'm not really willing to find out by biting into one after being in my fridge for so long
compare these to what you find in heirloom varieties. They may be a little more dull looking, not having had the wax treatment, and they will almost never be uniform in their appearance, size and shape, even within the same variety...
but with an heirloom variety, you know when you're getting a bad apple. the evidence is more obvious because it hasnt had all the trickery and modifications to make it look appealing beyond its shelf life. Some GMO apples dont even bruise...
tying back into the podcast, we had a discussion today about inner vs outer goodness. I'm left to question if we are trying too hard to create the "perfect" apple for the sake of appearances and mass appeal?...
rather than letting our fruits be good because they reflect the goodness of our father, or of our parentage, despite their not having been focused group for societal desirability and likelihood of purchase and consumption...
it is also interesting that you usually can not grow a tree from GMO'd apples. The seeds are completely useless and there is no increase to the thing you have created,

While this heirloom variety retains the potential for good fruit, year after year...
In summation;

There are formulas for the appearance of goodness, that comes at the cost of a good nature and heritage.

Our goodness comes from our Divine heritage and potential, not from our mass appeal and desirability...
True authentic goodness is beautiful because it reflects the goodness of our Father in Heaven.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
“We but half express ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of us represents. It may be safely trusted as proportionate and of good issues, so it be faithfully imparted, but God will not have his work made manifest by cowards.”
