Police in Denver abducted multiple protestors from their homes (with a SWAT team & tanks, refusing to show a warrant), from shopping centers and cars, and locked them in a cell for EIGHT DAYS in vile conditions without letting them meet with a judge or setting a bail. [THREAD]

While in the women’s jail, Lillian House & Eliza Lucero were subjected to over 23 HOURS A DAY LOCKED IN THEIR CELLS without access to a TV, books, any kind of hand sanitation/personal care items, & only ONE mask. They were verbally assaulted by guards (who weren’t wearing masks),

had their dietary restrictions ignored (both of them experiencing weight loss during that time) and were only given 40 minutes a day to decide whether they wanted to call their families, friends and lawyers or take a shower.

Joel Northam, who was caged in the men’s jail, was put in a pod with 7-8 other men for over 23 hours a day and although there has been positive covid cases in nearby pods, no precautions were taken and he was only given one mask.

These organizers are also facing FELONY charges like “kidnapping” because they organized a non-violent, peaceful sit-in for justice for #ElijahMcClain. The state is accusing them of kidnapping the 18 armed police officers who were inside the building the whole time.

These organizers have dedicated their lives to the struggle for liberation, and are selflessly STILL fighting for justice for victims of Denver and Aurora police’s brutality on our community despite the state’s efforts to strip them of their freedom and lives.

Police across the country are locking up protestors in an effort to smash the anti-racist movement against them. They’re violating our constitutional rights because when it comes down to it, they’re free to do as they please.
