Other brave souls have inspired me to tell the more painful story of when I first heard the name Yuzuru Hanyu and exactly how he saved my life: Mid 2017 I had a pulmonary embolism. It wasn't diagnosed properly at first, and I was already very scared... PART 1
... Then they diagnosed me with Pulmonay Hypertension, which is fatal within 3-10 years after diagnosis. I stopped tweeting mainly because I didn't want to tell my Twitter friends about it. I didn't want to make anyone sadder than they already were in a world gone crazy... PART 2
... and frankly, I don't know how to process sympathy. A small part of my reason was also because Twitter allowed scum like Alex Jones to post lies about suffering families, but I really used that as an opportunity to leave everyone with no tears... PART 3
...I'm an old dancer, so I soothed myself going to live dance shows. I saw AFTER THE CURTAIN with the brilliant Lex Ishimoto and Travis Wall. I struck up a conversation with an elderly couple who were also old dancers. We were talking about how many Japanese dancers... PART 4
...like Lex Ishimoto are so wonderful and dedicated to their art. They made me swear when I got home I would look up YouTube videos of Yuzuru Hanyu (excuse me a moment while I sob with gratitude...) So the first video I saw was 2017 Worlds Hope & Legacy. (Crying again...) PART 5
...It changed my world. It changed everything. He embodied everything hope is with every movement, every subtle expression. I watched non-stop videos for months (to be honest, I'm still doing that.) I read his words, absorbed his philosophy of life... PART 6
...I learned the meaning of hope & the importance of working hard to overcome difficulties. I'd been resigned to dying, but Yuzu's spirit infected me and I really doubled down on the breathing exercises I was given. I even learned more exercises from all over the world... PART 7
...(I mean, Yuzu has asthma, for God's sake, look at the supreme effort HE's had to do since he was little - what the hell did I have to complain about?!) I researched supplements and lifestyle changes that could help me and I vastly improved my lungs. A year later, ... PART 8
...when it came time for the Doctors to finally predict how long I had to live, they were shocked not only by my improvement, but by the strength of my heart. Since blood clots, leading to heart attacks and strokes are the main cause of death with Pulmonary Hypertension ...PART 9
...having a strong heart could make all the difference. The Doctors said I shouldn't have actually improved, and with a heart this strong, they weren't even sure it could be called Pulmonary Hypertension anymore, and since this was something they hadn't seen before, ...PART 10
...they had no idea whether it was going to even kill me at all. Personally, I think it was a miracle, and that miracle has a name: YUZURU HANYU - PART 11 - END
