Not going to do the 1st half this week. Will look at the 2nd half to see how the young guys performed.
No 5 or 11 on the field to start the 2nd half. This is 11’s first play and he gets called for holding. Grabbing the DB from behind. Pointless.
3 does a nice job of blocking here. Probably better than 11 has all season.
This is where 5 gets the penalty. Stupid penalty came from frustration. What’s inexcusable is how he reacts and curses out Dugans on the sideline. Not sure exactly of the first few words but the last word is definitely “boy”. Can’t have that.
Not sure why the announcers thought this was a broken play. It was a designed run all the way. Well executed. Good blocking downfield.
Nice blocking downfield by 53 and 58 to spring 87 for a TD. Nice job following blocks and running after the catch.
16 and 0 get blown off the ball here on 4th and 2. Luckily the freshman 4 runs into his own blocker and fumbles and 31 recovers.
Clear targeting here (was called). 1 really hung 11 out to dry, who in turn short armed the attempt to catch it. Heard those footsteps.
Nice run by 9 to follow his blocks and make a couple miss and pick up extra yards. Good blocking here. Need to see 9 a lot more. Looks like we got one.
Nice check down by 1 here, nice catch and run after by 9.
55 needs to adjust his positioning and hold this block a little longer and give 9 a chance.
Having the OL that’s been here the longest have 3 false starts is inexcusable. One of them destroyed the 2nd drive of the 2nd half. Taking us from 2nd and goal from the 5 to 2nd and goal from the 10. Big difference
76 has to make this block. If he does it Springs 87 loose and another potential TD if he can get by 1 guy on the edge. If not it sets us up in a much more manageable 3rd down instead of 3rd and 11.
Here is where a better QB would look at 11 and draw that LB over as well as the safety then throw it back to 80 who came wide open. Or at the least throw to 6 who would just have to make 1 guy miss to get the TD.
7 almost catches the INT here after being well behind. Of course if this is well thrown it’s a TD.
Might be the best play by a DL all year. Watch 39 up top at DE. Manhandles then OT there. 20 does a great job of not letting the RB get the edge. Nice job flowing to ball by rest of defense for the TFL. This is how team defense looks.
So 21 gets stood up, pushed back 4 yards, commits a penalty (where he was ejected) and talks trash after a 9 yard play.
0 makes a good play initially but he doesn’t finish the tackle. It’s as if he expected the freshman back to go down because he touched him. Finish the play!
So after 16 makes his first TFL of the year he does all this talking. Watch what happens after all that chirping. 4th and 1 and he gets pushed out of the hole 1v1. Man shut up and play ball.
DE gets blown off (think it’s 42). And 35 is completely lost on where the ball is or where his run fit is. Disgusting play here.
Notice a 1st year RB (9) telling a 3rd year WR (83) where to line up. Notice during the play the aggressive blocking by 3 and the good catch by 87. Play the young guys!
88 is on the line when he should be off, making 87 an ineligible WR (was called). I do think this should have been DPI...but these kind of mistakes we should be prepared for with a freshman QB and WRs. They will happen if we go young.
