Hey "law and order" people, I know you look at the Breonna Taylor case and say things like "if only they cooperated" and "if only they didn& #39;t have a criminal past" and every other attempt to explain why it was her fault
You lack all empathy. You don& #39;t think of the situation as a tragic loss of life but rather as a simple example of cause and effect. You believe she deserved it, either personally or at the very least statistically
But what you fail to recognize is that this can happen to you, too. Even if you are living a life of privilege, there& #39;s a good chance that there& #39;s someone in your family who is very much like Breonna, as least circumstantially
Maybe it& #39;s your brother who has had lifelong troubles with alcohol, or your cousin with a history of domestic abuse, or your nephew who got caught shoplifting, or your uncle who labored all his life and got hooked on stronger and stronger pain killers
Most of us have these situations somewhere in our family, no matter how privileged or pure we think we are
And even if you can& #39;t relate directly to Breonna, you should be able to relate to your family and friends who are facing similar situations
Now that you can imagine that in some personal way, imagine how it can be worse because overall conditions can be worse for some, because of generations of systemic injustices that perhaps you& #39;ve never had to endure, at least not in just the same way or to the same extent
