Don’t want to be negative - so let me just provide some recruiting perspective. A thread.

1. I don’t think you should ever tag multiple coaches in a recruiting tweet, if you don’t have time to send film individually to a school, you probably aren’t that interested.
2. If you feel like it’s not that big of a deal, and want to tag multiple - fine. But there has never been a kid being actively recruited by The Apprentice School and Alabama. Coach Saban and I should never be tagged on the same kids tweet. ‘Why not? I’m just trying to get seen?’
3. Answer: because if I’m tagged in a tweet with an SEC schools coach, here’s what I think: either “that kid is a big time recruit, I’m not gonna waste my time” OR “that kid is delusional about his playing ability, I don’t want to deal with that headache” either way, moving on.
4. Don’t say “you should recruit every kid, you never know!” No, I do know. I’ve been doing this long enough to know when a kid has talent beyond the school I’m currently recruiting for, Or when they aren’t self aware of their talent, and can become a problem. Time is valuable.
5. Recruiting is one of, if not THE most important part of a college coaches job. None of us are right all the time, but you’re also never going to talk us into a kid that didn’t measure up to our evaluation process. We might be wrong, or you might be wrong.
6. If we’re wrong, everyone let’s us know - including our AD with a pink slip, so there’s no reason for you (players, HS coaches, trainers) to lose sleep if a college coach isn’t into you or your prospect. It’s ok if every coach doesn’t think you’re great, you just need one.
7. If YOU’RE wrong, and I take a player that didn’t measure up to my evaluation process, you’re fine, the player is fine, I’m out of a job. Taking the wrong players hurts more than missing a good player 100% of the time.
END - my process may not be perfect, but I was taught early on to trust my evaluation process and stick to my guns when it comes to recruiting. No one wins if a kid ends up somewhere he’s not really wanted or doesn’t really want to be.
