After seeing 2D map of rivers, many suggested to connect Himalayan rivers & SI rivers
Though Ganga originates at higher elevation,majority of it's course is at lower elev than SI rivers (let alone watersheds).Pumping wud be very costly

Long story short:
Cut mountains
Build & maintain pipes
Pump (electricity demand)
Build new canals & dams (land acquisition)
Livelihood loss
Environmental catastrophes
Salt water intrusion
Subsidence
At the end we'll have metal rivers but we might not have solved water crisis

If someone's going to argue that only the lower reaches (delta regions) are the target, then imagine the cost for a small increase in water supply! Would the cost be covered?
We're going to do all this for getting an increase in irrigation equivalent of 5 districts' area.Think!
