Just imagine feeling like you have to vote for this guy in order to protect your way of life. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1310211120922230784
Also, BREAKING: God doesn't require a president in office to protect His will. He is perfectly capable without having Trump as president. Stop fooling yourselves, Christians.
"I have to vote for Trump because my faith demands it" is what weak Christians say who think God is basically an occasionally benevolent dictator. But we always fail when we put God into a box, or see Him through a human lense.
God doesn't need anyone or anything. He's God. He most certainly doesn't require Trump being in office for an additional four years in order to protect His people or see His will accomplished. That's a poor understanding of who He is.
If your pastor is telling you to vote for a specific candidate because your faith demands it then I would suggest you find a new church. Preferably find one with a pastor who isn't substituting his own will with God's.
I have zero problem with pastors who say, "this is who I am voting for and why." Perfectly fine. But I see lots of them who say, "your faith compells you to vote for X"
Uh, no
In the 2016 FL 18 House Primary my pastor brought a candidate up on stage and allowed her to preach to the congregation, and then essentially said the church should support her. She was supposed to be the more Christian of the candidates.
Meanwhile, Brian is a very active churchgoer and man of faith. It's legit. I lived it with him. But my pastor said he wasn't as good of a Christian as our own congregation member, who we should vote for instead of Brian. Didn't sit well with me. Still doesn't
Meanwhile, the candidate who was more of a Christian proceeded to lie about me and smear my reputation among the congregation, even after I challenged her on it. But she was the better Christian, according to my pastor
