#lifewithcooper What a weird week regards Cooper this has been.
We had the running away incident last Sunday at Dalmeny.
On Monday evening a dog walker contacted me via Instagram to ask if I had rehomed Cooper from an elderly lady in Leith, which I had. She told me that he...1/
he had a sad set up at home + would often run away, and from an elderly gentleman that used to walk him. When my dog dogwalker, Laura came for the initial visit she told there was another beagle called Cooper owned by an old man...I am now pretty certain, it was my Cooper...2/
Robin, the other dogwalker told me that a neighbour bought him for this old lady "for company". She never left her house so relied on neighbours to take him for walks. Why did they not get her a cat? She said he was quite a celebrity around the walkway + Portland Street for...3/
his constant running away. She was happy to know he was living a good life now.
Then on Friday, I was walking Cooper on the walkway and this girl who was walking her dog, asked me if it was Cooper. She relayed a similar story about him running away and that he followed her...4/
home one day and he would often be found in St Mark's Park after running away from home or the old guy. She said she felt sorry for him + he was often quite smelly. She said that he was looking great + it was lovely to see a big difference in him. Cooper meanwhile...5/
was running after her dog and playing. I just wonder if he remembered him.
Then yesterday in Victoria Park, Cooper started playing with a group of dogs and went to this lady + rubbed himself up against her. He seemed very happy to see her. She asked him name and I told her...6/
she also knew him, and had walked him a couple of time with the old guy. She also told the same story of his sad set up. She said he had lost of weight (he still has a wee bit to go) + just how much happier + calmer he was. He did bark at her a few times...7/
but it was happy barking as tail was wagging. I am guessing he remembered her too.
It explains so many things as he didn't play with toys, didn't run after a ball, he was very wary of the sea when I took him to the beach. I think he missed out on being a puppy.😪 8/...
His recall is pretty rubbish, but it seems he was just allowed to do his own thing. I am not saying he was neglected, because he is a lovely natured dog, and apart from his very dirty ear + being overweight, he was a happy dog. He is stubborn, but I guess...9/
he probably never had much training. It was lovely to get a wee insight to his previous life, even though it did make me a bit sad + emotional. I definitely think fate (and my dear dad) played a part in us coming together. We are soul mates + he is very happy...10/
in his forever home and has experienced new adventures with me. The people I met said they were happy to see him settled as they felt sorry for him but I think I am the lucky one.🥰🐾🐶❤

If there is anyone from Leith who recognises or remembers Cooper, please do get in contact. I'd love to know more about his previous life. #leith #edinburgh #rehomeddogs
