THREAD:
Since this hellsite is flooded with a ridiculous volume of misinformation and overconfidence from people who simply refuse to engage with theory, I'll be doing a thread with a basic explanation of concepts and terms in no particular order. Feel free to keep adding.
Communism, socialism, democratic socialism, social democracy.
Social democracy refers to "humane" interventions made in a liberal capitalist state still benefiting from imperialism and exploitation, but has strong welfare state at home. Eg: Nordic countries, Bernie Sanders.
Democratic socialism:attempting to create a workers/socialist state through bourgeois democratic mechanisms instead of proletarian&peasant revolution. Faces roadblocks due to the irreconcilable contradictions of the two systems. Eg: Allende, Mosaddegh, Chavez. NOT Bernie Sanders.
Socialism: The control and ownership of the means of production and the state by the workers. Private property may exist but won't determine the future of the state. New modes and relations of production also create radically different social relations. Lower stage of communism.
Communism: Before we address communism, we must understand the relationship of the state and classes in brief.
The state is a product of class contradictions. It arose at a specific time in history when society had been split into classes.
The state emerged as an authority above&separate from society to protect the interests of the dominant class. The class which had control over production used the state to gain political dominance as well. At every stage, the state has belonged to the economically dominant class
Socialism seeks to establish a state controlled by the "people". Classes still exist. The people will use the state as an instrument of class warfare to "expropriate the expropriators", whose political dominance has been eliminated. It will seek to eliminate classes.
The state must become the representative of all society and not just one class, take over production, and as its role in interfering in social relations decreases&ceases, the state itself becomes redundant. Governance of people is replaced by administration of things & production
Communism is thus a classless, stateless, moneyless society attained THROUGH SOCIALISM when the state *whithers away* after serving its purpose of abolishing class distinctions. By definition, communism has never been achieved, only socialist states have existed thus far.
It's important to note that this is only going to be a brief glossary of terms. The intricacies of kin formation, endogamy, exogamy, hyper/hypogamy, jati, varna etc are most definitely not meant for deliberation on this stupid app, nor am I the right person to speak on caste.
