Sweden has more of a social safety net and more people in secure employment, but the worst-hit people come from demographics who can’t access many of the benefits of Swedish society. The model has failed bc it failed to center the marginalized, it’ll be even *worse* elsewhere.
I have an intense distaste for the argument that “Sweden can have this approach because they’re BETTER than us” because it hasn’t worked here, it contributes to Swedish exceptionalism, and it fuels liberal America’s commitment to being a bottom.
