yeah so the concept of this project is how the United States is blind in its pursuit of “freedom” (basically the us is shitty)
the eagle, which is a prominent symbol of the us (and an extension of freedom) hides the eyes of the typical white american (which the us gov tends to be made up of)
the background is made up of pieces of political articles, mainly on the US’s handling of the pandemic and blm (and systemic racism, which are two major issues in the US that the government has repeatedly undermined
I can’t quite remember the name of The NY Times article I used for the man’s clothing but it was about the rest of the world’s reaction to the us and I picked out words and phrases that defined how the us is not as democratic and free it thinks it is
and yeah, that’s pretty much a summary of what this is about! anyways moving on to what I could have done better:
I feel like I could have been more selective with the pieces in the collage, and should’ve used more colors to make the ink drawings stand out more
I like how the watercolor for the eagle came out, could have emphasized a red white blue theme as a reference towards the flag?
