Some thoughts on Monsoon

Gorgeously shot, delicately performed, and brilliantly paced, Monsoon is a beautiful portrait of a Vietnamese immigrant retracing his roots in a country he can't really call as his own.

While there's much promise in the premise, it felt stale.

Henry Golding's gentle and contemplative acting really helped drive the movie's main ethos. However, Kit, the main character, didn't really feel like the main protagonist—he felt more like a conduit for discussion because of how little is revealed of his struggles.
