Trying out puzzles as an alternative to dopamine optimized social media feeds and video games.
A thread....
First thing I notice.
This is much more boring.
I feel tempted to check my phone ALOT.
I also find myself getting frustrated because the puzzle does not give me easy access.
It quite literally is making any progress that feels engaging impossible.
This is not optimized.
I decided to segment off and code the puzzle.
Now I have 5 categories.
Sky. Tree. Grass. Building. And Unknown.
I could have done more but this is rough categories so my brain has less anxiety putting this together.
I wonder if other puzzle ppl do this?
Watching a reboot of unsolved mysterious as background.
Now I really do feel like I’m a kid again doing puzzles with my grandma.
The irony of tweeting my puzzle is not lost on me.
So is it addictive?
Found an article confirming some of these concerns:
“excessive use is also starting to affect peoples’ decision making abilities and make them more likely engage in “risky behaviors.” https://www.addictioncenter.com/news/2019/09/excessive-social-media-use/">https://www.addictioncenter.com/news/2019...
