here are few information about mobility aides, disclaimer I've only been using a cane for a very short time but I used to work in a senior facility where the majority of residents used them
-even the "most" disabled idea we have, usually of the elderly don't use their mobility aides all the time, I've seen very elderly residents walk short distances without their canes and wheelchairs
does that mean they are faking? no
people don't have to be experiencing the worst amount of pain or struggle in order to use a mobility aid and for it to be valid or not fake, if you need it, and it helps, then you need it
some of the residents can walk short distances without mobility aides but
if they kept on walking without their aid they would collapse or be in too much pain
-I know I started this thread about the elderly population, but I wanted to address how even the "most" disabled don't use their mobility aides all the time
what does this mean?
that the person you see in public who stop using their cane at some point or pull it out of their bag after a while of walking, or a disabled person on a wheelchair who gets up for any reason is not faking
