I need a group text with @BethMooreLPM, @MelissaMoore77, @KaitlynSchiess, and my sister @NSD_Russell. Since I don’t have that, you get this string.

This morning I saw a tweet thread from @KaitlynSchiess (first two tweets pictured here) that made me sad. Her comments on purple pens, florals, and sparkly polish being (internalized as) in opposition to Serious Theological Study really struck a chord with me.

In my head, I’m thinking, you go girl! ... to a female seminary student. It’s impressive and hard work and I’m assuming a lot of guys giving her a hard time.

Separately, I’m doing the @BethMooreLPM & @MelissaMoore77 Galatians study. When I get to the midweek podcast, I text @NSD_Russell: This is cool - one of the things they have attempted to do is cite female scholars where possible.

... but Melissa said there aren’t a lot of female commentary writers, so please raise your daughter to know God and want to pursue him in writing Bible commentaries

Sister: That’s awesome. I’ve heard conversations in various places recently about women and seminary. It’s very odd to me that I never once considered going to seminary. It’s like if you’re not going to be a pastor why would you go? And I’m a woman so I “can’t “be a pastor

More sister: As a result you end up with people like Beth who are self taught and then the misogynist men demonize her because she’s had no formal training. In the meantime they keep women out of seminary!
Me: I never in a million years would have considered going to seminary!

So then it comes full circle and I tell her about @KaitlynSchiess’s tweets from this am and she says:
She’s awesome this is like the third time I’ve heard about her in a month. She just wrote a book! Wow!

In conclusion: a group text with these smart, godly women would be awesome, you should do the Galatians study, and I’ve ordered The Liturgy of Politics. And yes, more women should go to seminary.
