I've been trying this past week to fight the gaslighting of the fake media in regards to the Supreme Court. The fake media doesn't want you to know that the court flipped with Kavanaugh. They want you to think the court is 4-4. That's simply not the case.
The court is at worst 4-3 with a right leaning moderate as the Chief Justice at best it's 5-3. In other words, on "most" decisions the court has come down on the right side of aisle all things being equal.
There are some constitutional liberal laws that were passed by a Congress and signed by a President. These laws can't be overturned by a SCOTUS filled with constitutionalists. They have to be repealed by a Congress and a President.
Yes, there have been some " high profile" cases that didn't turn out the way a conservative would think they should and some questionable decisions that were based more on politics than case law IMO. However, this doesn't change the underlying conditions that on most days the
.. court was 5-4 (right vs left) before the death of RBG and on the other days it was 4-4-1. Now with her death it's 5-3 on most days and 4-3-1 on the other days. With ACB confirmed it will change it to 6-3 or 5-3-1.
Since moderates tend to side with the majority, the new court will probably be a consistent 6-3 with the occasional left leaning opinion. The confirmation of ACB will not "flip the court" the court was already flipped. It will cement the court which is a different beast.
The fake media and left wants you to think it will "flip the court" so people get all "wee-weed" up and the left can fund raise and increase voter turnout on the confirmation chaos, but they lost the battle with Kavanaugh.
The confirmation is important but it's not the end all be all that Kavanaugh was. It will constrain the ability of Roberts to moderate the court. It will further block the liberal wing of the court. It will embolden the conservatives on the court. Going forward,
...it could cause some justices to retire early if they feel they have no power on the court, like Breyer or Sotomayor and others to retire, like Thomas and Alito if they feel their loss will not change the court to any degree.
Yes, I know it doesn't seem that important to point this out, but this is how the big lies are formed. This is how the media shapes the debate. This is how narratives are spun. It's easy to concentrate on one or two "big rulings" and shape a narrative that is not the whole
... truth to further a goal. It's hard to take a step back and look at the whole truth and realize all is not what we are being told. I'm not a fan of Roberts. I think his attempt to moderate the court was ill-advised and he would have been better served by history if he would
.....have instead embraced the change that the voters elected Trump and a GOP Senate to usher in. However, not liking a person doesn't mean we should blind ourselves to the truth so that our opponents can use that blindness against us during times like this.
The leaders know the truth. That's why McConnell is pushing ahead quickly. It's why the senators aren't really that concerned with confirming ACB because short term it only at best changes the ability of Roberts to "swing" the court on some political hot button issues.
Which is kind of important but it's not that important that someone would risk their entire career over. Hence, the Mitt and Murcowski back down.

Now you can continue to believe what the fake media has presented too you or take a step back and look at things differently.
As always, think as you will. Your choice of course but I always found it's better to have different opinions on the facts presented.
