Denzel Curry’s “13LACK 13ALLOONZ” Trilogy Explained, A Thread:
13LACK 13ALLOONZ

To start us off on the introductory track, “13LACK 13ALLOONZ” Denzel simply sets the theme of what a “Black Balloon” is, and how he encounters them. A Black Balloon is his mind is Fear, Anxiety, Depression, etc. (1/3)
More specifically, the Black Balloons are a representation of his demons. At the start of this trilogy, he acknowledges them, and lets them linger in his mind. (2/3)
However, he keeps a positive mindset about it and just ignores them floating around trying to get to him. But yet, he wants the Balloons to pop, so the pain he suffers will stop. Leading us to the next track. (3/3)
Black Balloons Reprise

Now, the Black Balloons are really starting to get him, as he starts to drown in misery and sorrow feeling empty and depressed, expressing his worry for the future, and stating that he is the “Black Balloon” being a representation of how he feels. (1/2)
At the end of the track, he recognizes that everyone dies in the end and questions the contemplation of life. Yet even after all this, there is still a glimmer of hope left asking if someone, or something can save him from this mental spot. (2/2)
THE 13LACKEZT 13ALLOON

The tie the knot of the trilogy, Denzel reinstates his paranoia and trust issues in others, being the main reason as to why he acts out of fear. (1/2)
He starts to recognize throughout the track how fear-ridden society is and how people who obsessively Pill-Pop, and chase clout, do it all out of fear. At the end, he realizes whoever claims that they are “all that” is lying and just having the fear talk. (2/2)
