It’s so cruel to blame students for what’s happening. Disease spreads fast through halls - it’s usually colds and flu but this time it’s Covid. Not their fault. It’s grim that on top of this, they might be forbidden leaving for the winter holidays.

Halls are usually first years - everyone else lives in shared housing - and it’s just so brutal that after the mess of A levels, these young people, many first time away from home, start uni and have to go into lockdown - and people are blaming them for it!!

Gastric flu swept my own halls in the first term - loads of us got it, inc me. As most halls have shared kitchens and bathrooms, it’s inevitable. It’s not the odd party causing this!

I have managed to catch a bad cold and am feeling a bit sorry for myself - cannot imagine how it must be to be just away from home and locked in with suspected Covid. And most of these 18 year olds didn’t even get to vote on the government that is uprooting their lives.
