Harry reads and loves Shakespeare 🦋 a thread 🇬🇧 because I love both of them (also I study english language and literature at Uni so I know what I'm talking about🧡)
🧡Sonnet 116. One of S most famous works, it talks about Love as a long-lasting mark and the literal image of a permanent mark is... tattoos. The sonnet talks about Love as a bright star (also comparable to a lighthouse) that guides a bark (a boat) through the tempest (hardship)
Two ghosts parallel and another parallel with the nautical themed tattoos. This sonnet talks about a Love that is so stong to face difficulties and does not simply fade with time. A Love that lasts forever.
Sonnet 18 🦋Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? ☀️ The theme of the summer is very dear to H. The references can be found in Olivia -yes, I'm going to finally answer "Is Olivia a song? an emotion? we don't know." (We do. I'll get there.)
Golden and Sunflower are complementary. Golden is the sun, his lover and Sunflower is Harry himself; sunflowers rotate themselves while following the sun ☀️🌻.
Olivia 🖇 Golden 🖇 Wms are linked by the way that Harry compares his loved one/lover (yes, only one lover. I'm not repeating myself: Harry writes his most emotional songs for one listener only) to a summer day & to the literal sun☀️ Even RS made a reference to S.
Walking in the wind ~If you're lost, just look for me You'll find me in the region of the summer stars ~he's talking about stars ~so the night~ and the summer -that mostly is about sunny long days. For me he's uniting sun and moon, day and night, they compleat each other🌝🌞
Olivia 🌸
Why is Olivia so important? Two reasons: the lyrics and the name. 🌸Olivia is another way to spell I-love-you without actually saying it. Like with everything else, he communicates things that he can't actually say. Like with songs.
🌸The light in your eyes is the light of the sun. Then he talks about summertime and butteflies (having butteflies in your stomach is the feeling of being infatuated). (Yes he has a 🦋 on his tummy but it's another story). He talks about his lover as the sun ☀️
~meanwhile his lover talks about him as the night🌙⭐️ (you got stars they're in your eyes) plus other references that I won't be writing here~
Now, what does Olivia has actually to do with S? Well, Olivia is a character of "The 12th Night", a play that is vital to understand S, cause it embodies two vital things to actually know about him.
🌼He wasn't straight. He dedicated A LOT (126) of poems to a young male lover. 🌼He wrote about gender-crossing and defying the two-genders imposing social rule. Sounds familiar? 🌝🌻
✨Olivia isn't the only important reference from this play. But before that, you might ask: Elena, why are you so sure that Olivia is Shakespeake's Olivia? Well honey, Harry told me himself. He made sure that we got the reference.
He literally put the book in front of me -of us-, right next to a giant fish🐟🧡. If this isn't love ❤️
But Olivia isn't the only important character of this gigantic play. Let me introduce Antonio and Sebastian. As one might guess if one's not blind, it's a🌈story. Antonio is in love with Sebastian. ~fondness🐟, desire to be close❤️🤔...~
Antonio is in love with Sebastian and once again (this is a recurrent theme I wonder why?) this story is about hardship and facing difficulties.
Now, why would Eroda post this?
Because this play is beautifully rapresented by the Adore you music video. Is that it? No☺️
Antonio: "But come what may / I do adore thee so"
Harry: "Just let me adore you / like it's the only thing I'll ever do"
♥️🐟☀️🌈🌻🖇
Okay Harold, 🍯xx you're defo not Antonio. 😉.☺️.
Are you done? No. I said six songs. But you probably know this by now (I posted it without much context)...
NOW. Sweet Creature is a masterpiece, one of my top #3 Harry songs and I'm tired of the disrespect of ignorant people who are too lazy to even bother to type "sweet creature" and see for themselves that it 100% isn't Sweet Home Alabama nor a family song. Okay?
Sweet Creature is a reference from act III scene III of the Othello's play. (Read a book once in a while and spare me the bullshit thanks xx). It talks about a sexual scene where two men lie in bed together five feet apart cause they're not gay. 😉. LET US HIDE OUR LOVES.
That's it! (well I would have a lot of other stuff to say but this are the most important and vital points.) Thanks for reading❤️. I'll leave you with a coincidence: Shakespeare's name is William 💘 All the love, E.
The Two ghosts parallel is this
The Two ghosts parallel
Same lips red / rosy lips is also from Sonnet 116 ~ see the beginning ~ (that's why it's relevant, cause it's from the same poem)
